ABOUT
OUR NAME:
Sacred history tells us LYDIA was the first person converted to Christianity on European soil, the first person to have house church by inviting the rich and poor into her home to share the Gospel. She was also the first business woman ever recorded (the seller of purple) making and selling fine tapestry for royalty. Lydia, no doubt, was a woman of hospitality, excellence, generosity and influence - a fitting model for our contemporary times of someone who earnestly and seamlessly blended her life, work and faith in service to others and glory to God.
As an enterprising woman,
we like to think that she advertised her materials by wearing
them beautifully --- with royal grace and dignity.
A widowed mother, she determinedly
managed both her family and business well. In an age when women
were held to be much inferior to men, she successfully took her
place beside men in business and in leading home bible studies.
Her wisdom, sound judgement and integrity were recognized. Her
personal charm and sincerity drew people to her from all walks
of life.
Lydia, a spiritually grounded
business person of faith, focus, excellence and action.
A fitting
model for any person or any profession.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence,
then, is not an act but a habit." Aristotle
